Your hosts are owner managers Dave & Michele Dawson. We have now completed our fourth year on Magnetic Island. In the past 4 years we have completely renovated the resort, modernizing the units and buildings & updating our hire car fleet. The most recent change is adding lounges to some of our double rooms to make them more comfortable. All units are freshly painted with new beds, bathrooms new furnishings and fittings, a new concrete pool and fresh landscaped gardens. We are continuing the modernisation program to provide the best, value for money, holiday accommodation on Magnetic Island.

Cyclone Yasi

Cyclone Yasi has been & gone, leaving Magnetic Island with a few less trees & those remaining with a lot less leaves. A few of the beaches have been redesigned with mountains of sand moved. Our newly renovated Picnic Bay Jetty was also damaged and is currently closed for safety reasons.

On the positive side there was very little damage to property & no injuries. As with most small communities everyone has rallied together and helped with the clean up so the island is now back to business as normal.

TOILET TAX

Times are tough for everyone so, despite increases in all our costs, we have not increased our room or car prices in the four years we have been here. Townsville City Council has now introduced a charge for each toilet in the building, which unfortunately we have no choice but to pass on. All room tariffs now include the TCC Toilet charge of $5 per room per night, exactly what it costs our business. We have also had to pass on increases in car registration & insurance. As such our car hire has increased by $5 per day, to help offset that we have introduced generous discounts for mutli day hire so some hire periods are now actually cheaper.
